Mc28 body work on a MC21

Sun Feb 02, 2020 5:51 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

How’s it going trying to research about this but there really isn’t much details about it. I was just wondering if I use full MC28 body work and tank on a Mc21 May I still use the Mc21 components like subrframe and compartment Mc21 rear and front head light? Or would You guys advise me to swap the subframe to a MC28 as well I also noticed the compartments on a 21 and 28 are designed a bit different should I use a mc28 compartment as well? Is there a certain angle difference between the two subframes as well? Thanks any information will be greatly appreciated

Hi there it will all swap over you need the the appropriate black tool box for the seat unit you use but the subframe will work the black under tray differs 21’28 for the rear pillion pegs if you go 28 to 21 there are no front seat screw mounts they are on the subframe of 21 but on the main frame on 28 but that’s it the tank is no prob either, think that’s right 😉👍jonmac

In addition to what John says, I think the headlight may be a slightly different profile, and you will need either an MC28 screen brace or an alloy TYGA one that can be adjusted (i.e. bent!) to fit the lower rake of the MC28 top fairing.

Awesome thanks jonmac as I got the Mc28 kit from tyga I believe they offer some adapters that allow you to fit the front seat screws on the Mc21 so I’m going the route... alright thanks Andy then I should definitely source a Mc28 headlight instead thanks for the info guys

Even if I am correct about the headlight profile, I'm also pretty certain the MC21 unit will still fit. I just seem to recall it's just a minor change in the MC28's lens rake, so it sits flush with the later bodywork. I wouldn't worry too much.
