Fri Apr 06, 2018 1:34 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Does anyone here from the US know a reputable shop that can rebuild an MC21 rear shock? Maybe Race Tech et al?

Gt Performance Engineering In the UK is probably our best bet. If you can wait til next winter, I’m planning on sending them my MC21R shock and we could split shipping cost. Otherwise, it’s worth asking Race Tech. I’ll call them on Monday.

Let me know if you hear from Race Tech. I emailed/called them Friday and am waiting on a response.

Just spoke with Louie at Race Tech. He says they probably can't rebuild an SE or SP shock, and they definitely can't rebuild my R shock. Shipping to the UK is looking really appealing; with any domestic shop, we'd be the guinea pigs as they figure out what they're doing.

For sure. Along a similar vein - have you serviced your forks? I just rebuilt mine last month and it was straightforward, apart from having to coax 25-year-old forks apart that have probably never been serviced. The oil looked and smelled original.

I went with SKF seals this time but the site you recommended also sells OEM seals and bushings. I'll pick up a set for a future rebuild, thanks again for that.

I actually just had my forks done due to a leaky oil seal, but I had a shop do it. I used SKF seals as well. They seem to do the job so far.

Good to know. I've never used SKF before but they seem like good quality.
