Number plate colours

Thu Dec 17, 2015 10:13 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I was always under the impression that 250s were green and 500s yellow. The replica road bikes that have come out (Rothmans NSR250R, Pepsi RGV250 etc) I assumed had yellow plates to emulate the GP bikes.

But then I saw pictures of a Cadalora NSR250 (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0b/Honda_NSR250_1992.jpg) with yellow plates. So what's the deal? I'm building a bike at the moment which is scheduled to have a Rothmans paint job, and was all set to have the plates green.

Thanks!

I've seen Honda 250s with green, yellow, and even red number boards! Also, I think from 1995, number board colours were officially "free".

That could be a "promotional" paint scheme? I only personally recall Luca's NSRs with green number boards.

Thanks Andy, my bike is '87 so I'll stick with green!
