310mm Discs

Sun Nov 01, 2015 8:44 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Seem to recall seeing a post on here where someone had a MC16 front wheel with 310mm discs fitted. The finger was pointed at the CBR1100XX Blackbird as the donor. 310mm seems huge for a 250cc when the standard discs were 256mm i think but just wondered has anyone done it? I think only the 97/98 Blackbird discs have the same bolt centres. Inside diameter where the disc fits on the hub is slightly smaller on the CBR i think at 58mm, MC16 60mm. Offset is different too but obviously wouldnt work with the stock forks anyway. Few of the CBR600RR and CBR900 used 310mm discs but dont think any would match up to the NSR hub.

310mm is quite simply a waste of time and effort, when 296mm is so easily achieved with an NF5 (RWU) or NC30 setup.

Like i said surely 310mm is a bit over the top. Just thought i had seen an old post where someone had done it. Thought if you were using forks from a bike with 310mm discs it would be easier to stick to that size rather than going to 296mm and having to adapt the calipers and forks to get them to fit. I wasnt saying it should be done just thought it could be done.
