Neglected 91 MC21r

Wed Feb 05, 2014 8:28 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Today i brought home a rather neglected little 1991 MC21, imported in 99 and not used since 2000 after highsiding its owner off. since then its sat unloved gathering dust and corrosion literally 5 mins away and i never knew.

Loosely fitted chinese panels have gone to the scrap pile but a full set of OEM panels are present albeit needing some repair. Considering its been standing so long under the dust it isnt really that bad, ive bought runners in worse condition but its still going to get stripped for a refurb.

13k KM and a OEM toolkit Very Happy

All in all its a lot better than i was expecting but still a lot of work to bring her back to decent fettle again

That looks like it has potential under the dirt and corrosion, low mileage, standard unmolested.

What are your plans for it, stock or modified?

This will be pretty much stock, maybe some magteks as i already have a front from a RS in the loft and some end cans or possibly pipes if some come along. Id like some SE suspension but may just see how good or bad a refreshed stock setup is first.

A true gent then.

I bought a YZR500 rep a year ago in similar circumstances. We agreed a price on the phone and he honored it despite getting offers £5-600 more.

Quality people still exist.

Been a while since i updated this but in all honesty not a lot has been done apart from having a damm good clean, the main reason for this lack of progress is another MC21se came up for sale locally so that happened to find its way to my garage to

Pretty much the same story as the last one, crashed back in 1999 and left to rot ever since. General condition is worse than the R model and its done more miles but i think ive made my mind up that the R model is getting sold as i cant afford to keep and restore both of em, or do i sell one of the diesels and keep em both Razz

I wish I found more bikes like this I could rebuild or at least pick for parts.
