For anyone interested I thought I'd post some information regarding new smartcards. My MC28 came with one standard card and I decided to try and acquire a new one as spare. I know these can easily be bought on Yahoo Japan (if easy is the right word) but I wanted a new one and was unsure whether they were still available. Anyway I got one quite easily from the Honda parts deptartment in Tokyo. They wanted a photo of my documents showing name and address and engine/frame number to prove I owned the bike and also a photo of the front of my PGM4 with the rev counter moved to one side to expose the vital silver stickered number specific to that PGM. Using this they programmed a new smartcard to run with my PGM. It took 4 weeks to complete this process after which the card arrived and it has been tested and works fine.
Hope this is of help to people who may want a new card without using Yahoo Japan. Total cost was £270, not sure about HRC re-programming by these guys but I know there is a sticky on this forum relating to someone who can do this. If anyone wants info on who to contact to get a new card in this way just let me know as I have an email address and name of the guy who sorted this for me and whom I have used on several occasions in the past. He has direct access to the Honda parts dept in Tokyo and speaks better English than me ! He seems to be able to get anything. Once again hope this helps.
