Barrel clearances after replate?

Tue Jun 29, 2010 9:32 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I'm just getting one of my barrels replated, and before I order pistons do I wait until the barrel comes back before ordering the correct grade? I guess that it'll be different to the standard clearance once plated?

Had this same thing a few years back but forgotten what the outcome was..

Thanks
Paul

Er no. What you should do is order pistons first, then send them WITH the barrel and ask them to plate it to the tolerances you tell them!

From what I remember in the past, they had the tolerances already. But that was with an rgv250 piston, when it came back I was given the grade of piston to order. I'll get in touch with them..

Don't panic.. Shocked

I sent the cylinder away with one of your old pistons 2smoke, all you need to do is order the same size as you ordered last time. Can you remember what size they were?

It should state the clearance needed on the side of the piston box .
