Help ID this Black Box

Wed Dec 28, 2011 2:43 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Found it spliced to the orange/blue wire on the PGM2 of my MC18.

Is it a mysterious "M" box delimiter, If so, how does it work being connected to only one wire?

That looks like a M-Max box. Basically does what the wire splice does in a neater fashion. Plenty of discussion on the forums around what it actually does, and there is a wiring diagram of the box floating around someplace.

No idea who to credit that to!

As Charles says, it's a wire-splice in a box. Certainly not neater than any wire-splice I've ever done though!

Who ever installed it just connected one wire! All others are looped back in to the box. I'm going to remove it and do the "conventional" splice, that is when ever I get the motor back together. This is from the same bike that has bad cylinder

The PGM-II should be spliced exactly the same way as the MC21, although of course the MC18 M-max box won't have the grey plugs for the G.P.S.

You can actually get a genuine HRC delimter that plugs between the harness and PGM-II like the MC21, but unlike the MC21, it plugs into the standard harness and means you can retain all the road-going equipment. You can often pick the HRC delimiters up on Yahoo! for reasonable money.

The HRC box is trick... embossed with HRC and "Not for highway use", but the wire-splice when done properly is the neatest solution. You won't see the HRC box anyway.

Or if you were really into it, you could source some extra grey connectors and build your own delimiter.
