My race bikes

Sat Jan 03, 2009 9:55 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

As I said earlier here`s a thread about building my race bikes. One`s a MC18/MC21 F3/RS hybrid type thing!
The other`s a MC21 SP spec`.
Got to get my backside in gear to be ready for the start of the season!

Here`s a few pic`s of parts to start with.
F3/RS stuff first.

Ahh... the elusive HRC PGM-III. It will be interesting to see how that performs.

It looks like you managed to wrestle a lot of good parts off StephenRC45 there!

Yes, I `ve got to say a big thankyou to Stephen. The majority of the parts here are from his good self.
I did manage to pick up some other nice bits elswhere though. Got some very rare HRC parts from Peter, or mi0cib on this forum. In fact the F3 radiator I decided was just in too good a condition for me to ruin it on my race bike. Ended up swapping it with Stephen!
The PGM came from James, or j911brick along with the airbox you`re making a template from. Thanks again James.

I know it`s been a while.
I`ve been busy on the bike this week though. I`ve decided to build it up with the standard SP wheels and front end for now as a friend let me down. He managed to lose some RS yokes and some exhaust stubs. This really held me up as well as pissed me off! He was also going to make up some spacers for the RS rear wheels but I`m not holding my breath!
It`s episodes like this that made me give up racing the first time round.
I`ll get it done elsewhere now. I`ve been sorting out replacement yokes lately. Managed to find a bottom yoke at the moment.
An ex-GP racer in Liverpool is welding up the rear subframe and the RS radiator mounts for me. He`s going to press the Tyga NSR stem into the RS yoke too. Going to collect the stuff on Saturday.
Here`s some pic`s of the bike from earlier in the week.
I`ll be changing the radiator and hoses, forks and wheels as and when I get the replacements sorted.

Got the reedblocks, manifolds airbox and carbs on yesterday. Sorted the powervalve pulleys and cables.

Was in Liverpool today helping to sort the ally subframe. Got the Tyga stem pressed into the new RS bottom yoke too.
Will get this stuff fitted tomorrow, hopefully. Fabricating stuff takes bleedin` ages!

Got a bit more done.
Fitted the RS yoke, new clip-ons and throttle cables. Got the chain on and the front brakes.
Never know, I might get it fired up for the weekend!

Well done Roy... looks like some great progress finally being made, and hopefully you'll be ready for the first outing of the season.

Not far away now! Shocked
