location of RC valve washer

Sat May 14, 2011 6:27 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I think the parts manual shows this part incorrectly located (item 12 in http://workshop.nsr-world.com/11kv3lj7/2FK11KV3LJ7/Pic/E3.html , the odd washer).

I would like to know if it has to be assembled between 10 & 11 or between 2 & 4. I installed it between 10&11, but the front guide 4 seemed a bit loose. Maybe it has to be that way?

Thanks

***edi***
ignore this post, it is incorrect

Neither, it sit's behind 2 like it does in the book.

There will be no mistakes in the pics, they're cleaned up scans of the parts manual.
Mistakes in the part numbers lists are another matter.

Sorry, fontyyy, I didn't mean that the pics are not original. I tried as you suggest but (2) is flat and rests against the cylinder. Also, the shaft is round as it comes out of the seal, so the odd washer is taken some mm outwards, which in turn prevents (2) from seating against the cylinder. Or I did something wrong.

I'll check again tomorrow, and thanks for the reply

Parts 2 & 3 go onto the cylinder before the No. 12 washer.
The No. 12 washer then goes on the shaft before the pulleys, parts 4 & 5 respectively in the picture.

Roy's correct, I don't know what I was looking at.

Parts 1, 13 and 14 tend to stay fitted to the cylinder.
first bolt part 2 to the cylinder.
then slide the odd square washer 12 onto the shaft, note it doesn't slide all the way down.
the butterfly 4 is next
then washer 10 (which is big enough to go over the shaft and but up to the butterfly).
then washer 11 (which is smaller and stays on the threaded part of the shaft)
then the l/h threaded bolt 9.

I have no idea why it's done like that, it's vastly over complicated. They probably didn't replicate the whole RS method as that needs maintenance (it's rose joints need lubing) and it'd cost more but they could have done a better job than they did.

Well, so its odd in the middle then. Thanks to all.

Its not uncommon that illustrated parts catalogs do not show correct assembly sequences.
