Help! Please! & MC18 R5K parts wanted

Tue Feb 22, 2011 8:41 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi folks,

I've been fighting with my R5K for over a year now and I'm hoping one of the more experienced bod's on here can throw me a life line.

It's only running properly on the bottom cylinder. The problem seems to be a weak intermitent spark on the top cylinder and it's blowing lots of un-burnt fuel out.

The unfortunate thing is I don't have any replacement parts I can switch over to help me find the fault.

I've checked the resistance of all ancillary parts as per the manual and the continuity across all connections on the loom and it's all coming bak within the parameters it should.

I'm looking for a full R5K loom, PGMII, reg/rectifier, flywheel generator, pick ups, coils - anything considered for an R5K model to help me get it running properly again. Cash waiting if you can help me out! Smile

Many Thanks

Jamie

Can you try to describe the fault in more detail. What revs, what speed, what throttle position etc. What have you done to rule out a fueling issue?

Have you swapped parts from the healthy cylinder to the unhealthy one....such as plugs, coils etc.

On the surface it smells like a flooding/fouling problem from one side
