Ohlins Suspension Availability

Thu Feb 03, 2011 12:20 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Although I had the understanding that the NSR Ohlins shock was no longer produced and as such unobtanium, I have been pleasantly surprised to find that it is still a stock item! The NZ distributor has ordered it for me, it leaves Sweden on Friday and I will have it in my hands next week!

Somewhat amusing to see that my Ohlins shock, modded R6 fork clad MC28 has better suspension than my old RS.... Very Happy

What did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking?

You will enjoy that new rear shock and the service from Robert Taylor.
Red down here is going to completely re-do my suspension with Ohlins gear later on this year.

I have a complete 2009 R6 front end.

Not really keen on the 3.5" front (I have magteks on my bike) as I prefer a narrower front with the steering response. However, it will be a lot of pissing about making up spacers, sourcing discs etc to keep the wheel. Instead, if I am clever with my tyre choice and setup, I am hoping to keep the steering light and responsive.

Thanks for the post!

I had read they were no longer available and assumed I wouldn't be able to find a new one. Time to contact Robert.....

Awesome, the r6 front end arrived this morning and i somehow managed to evade customs duty.

Ohlins shock left Sweden on Friday Cool

Engine on bench being attacked by grinder to accept larger pistons and the carbs are in the mill getting a good seeing too...

At the prices the r6 front ends are at, I reckon that they will perform better than either the rs250 or standard sp forks (once Robert Taylor has worked his magic on them anyway) - such is the merciless march of progress... Of course, I may be proved wrong!

Interesting find, dodgy!

I immediately clicked over to the Ohlins site after finding this post only to discover the HO206 shock
is compatible with SE or SP models... but not R. Rolling Eyes

Anybody know why this is so?

Can anyone tell me or guide me what year R6 front end is suitable for MC28?
What i know is CBR600RR & RVF400 can be used on the MC28. Both need to use their OEM triple clamp.
