no luck whatever i tried... maybe previous owner has messed them up and bented them.
just to be perfect, i want to buy new floats and needle valves, do you know where i can source them?
i know a place from australia but their prices are too much for me... something logical??
...you need to bend the little tab the spring/needle is attatched to to get the level correct. It doesn't matter what someone else has done before, and even if you get some new ones, you will most likely have to set them.
If you can't figure it out, take it to a (decent) bike shop. Basic fundamentals like float height setting, spark plug gaps, and idle adjustment should be well within your capabilities before you start messing about with things like HRC jet kits! Without a good base setup, it's never going to run right, and you'll just be compounding the issue by adding richer HRC parts! _________________ Andy.

Ive tried everything! it took me 5 minutes to fit needles, tubes, jets and over an hour with a friend trying to set the floats with lots of pictures from the netbook... even without the needle valves the floats are going out nearly 20mm at the 90 degree measurement! when i turn the carb as to level the floats with the floor then they go inside near the 13mm measurement but this is not 90 degree thats why i think maybe they are bented. not the tab all the float!
The picture in my post is the picture from the official Honda NSR250 Workshop Service Manual... I don't know how much clearer it can be... it's even an NSR250 carburettor!
Hold it at 90 degrees to horizontal, so the needle just seats, and then take the measurement.
It is highly possible, although improbable that each side of the float will give a different reading. If that's the case bend each side until they are level, then adjust the overall level by bending the little tab the needle is attached to.
As for "even without the needle valves the floats are going out nearly 20mm at the 90 degree measurement!", this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! Why on Earth you would try to take any measurement without the needle valve fitted is quite beyond me!
I can't make it any clearer... take the bike to a mechanic! _________________ Andy.

Have you put the floats in the wrong way up? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

for research purposes! when you have done everything and it is not right then you mess with other things that maybe are wrong.
mechanics??? no thanks ive had enough from them...
Hi guys - I'm setting my float valve levels on my MC28 and I found the same problem as "NSR lover " - each time I adjusted the metal "tab" on the float I got the same measurement ( 19 - 20mm) no matter which way I bent the "tab".I checked the Tyga procedure and found it basically the same but the floats were in exactly the opposite position to the ones shown in the Honda service manual - the Honda pics show the floats at the top and Tyga show them at the bottom although both are at 90 degrees.I set mine up the Tyga way and was able to get the required 13mm from the carb base, hopefully I have set them correctly ??

If I read this right you say "the Honda pics show the floats at the top"...the way I read the image posted by Andy above is that the floats dangle below the pivot pin, i.e. the floats are at the bottom.
This makes perfect sense, you want the carbs held precisely at 90 degree and the float will "dangle" using gravity to the setting position...surely if you have the floats facing upwards and the pivot pin at the lowest point the floats could "fall" off centre and give a false reading. Not sure why the Tyga image shows them in an opposite orientation.
