Hi guys - new member. I am thinking of buying an mc16 with no bodywork. Is it possible to fit genuine bodywork off an '18 without any modifications? Smile

In a nutshell no.
The R2j lowers are the same, but the top is not even close to fitting. I would think the tail would fit if you fitted the 18 sub frame. You would have to make up new exhaust mounts though.
16 bodywork is real hard to find, and no aftermarket stuff is available now Crying or Very sad
I have seen a 16 with 21 bodywork fitted, so it can be done.

Hi,

I am getting MC18 now, but in my town there is not shop you can buy a ready made BodyWork. So I decided to do it hand made. I have done it before on NSR 50. Why don't you try as well.

It is not an easy process, but is not difficult either. If you have a bit of fantazy and good hands you can do it.

1. Take a foam plastic, make the shape you like, and than by sand paper make the surface smooth.
2. Take epoxy glue and put it over the foam plastic, than glue on it a glass fabric. than again glue and again glass fabric. do 5 - 7 layers (depending on a fabric quality).
3. Than you have to put a putty on, also make it smooth with special sand paper and it is ready for painting.
4. Before painting, you take the inner part (foam plastic) out.

Than you have a exclusive bodywork.
