I thought I would start a thread and introduce my NSR to the UK paddock, I think it is probably unknown to the forum so here are a few images for you.
The bike was located in Somerset by my brother back in around October, it started out as a joint project with him providing the technical advice and me the labour...in the end it has turned into a team effort with the generous support from members of this forum, Andy, Prelude2.2, Lesviffer750, Paul G - thanks for the helpful advice guys.
The bike has sat in a moisture free environment for some years, its last MOT expired in 2012 but I think there has been an attempt to reinstate in around 2015 which nearly got it back on the road.
After about an hour of checking/fettling it actually started about 3rd kick and ran at tickover before we shut it down. We knew we had a good basis to work from.
After a bit of digging it turns out the bikes original colour was a black red but had been imported in OEM SE panels.
The OEM panels were a bit ropey so a set of Chinese replica's had been fitted to smarten things up.
And so the "deep clean" and a thorough inspection started in earnest, with a goal of having the bike MOT'd and running around by April.
Years of over zealous chain lube action has left the exquisite MC21 swing arm tattooed and stained.
After some inspection I started to realise that the bike was fairly original, OEM front sprocket, peg rubber wear etc confirmed the mileage shown on the clock is about right.
Why is it when you remove something for cleaning, you just keep on going...
Anyway every inch will be inspected/cleaned/replaced as necessary.
In the next week or 10 days I plan to start on the front end and then things will really start coming together.

A little step further on almost finished as far as the headstock...about to turn it about on the bench and start work on the front end.
I expect the Cadalora rep is not everybody's cup of tea but I like it...

I have given up trying to work out which fixings I have (which are OEM Honda or other bits thrown in).
So I sat down last night and started trying to work out what it is I need to order from Honda to get the fairings back on and straight...any guesses how many I miss and fail to order on the first batch and subsquently will need to re-order?
Anyway the test fitting has gone really well, I am generally very pleased with the quality, fit and finish of the replica fairing set.
I know it's nice to have oem panels, but generally all the aftermarket stuff I've seen over the last 10 years or so, haven't been that bad, the last set I bought about 8 years ago cost me a little over £300, delivered to my door from China, admittedly for a track bike, but when you consider I was gonna buy f/glass and paint it, I wouldn't have got the paintwork done for that, so I think they are good value, especially as it keeps more NSR's from being resigned to the back of dusty old sheds. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto

I have a set of OEM panels as well but they are "wrong" for the bike, I bet the original exporter/importer just threw a decent set of SE panels on it when it should have been a standard bk/red set.
Anyway the OEM panels need repair work before they are fit to be used, as well as a new coat of paint, so the Cadalora China set are a stand-in set for now (originally in the hope to put some miles under the wheels during 2020) The long term plan was to have a road set for "best" and the Cadalora set for track days...
I think the replica set are excellent value for money and honestly about 95% right...nit picking there is occasionally a little less than sharp lines here and there and the top cowl has green overspray on the inside which is a shame (I'll mask it up and blow the back in black) but you would be hard pushed to spot anything unless I pointed it out...I hope one day to be able to introduce the bike to you in person Les, once this madness is all over.
