Fri Jul 08, 2005 12:58 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Cliff here..in Florida. I have an NSR, 1994 250rr with PGM-IV and an HRC card(030) from Harc-Pro. Battery is charged, but when I insert the key card, I get nothing. Question...where do I start???.....or Does anyone know an NSR Wizard in the southeast. Pretty vaige, but I'm optomistic. Thanks.... Cliff

When you say nothing, do you mean the dash backlight comes on but no information (ie. temp, speedo, etc..)?

If absolutely nothing comes on (no dash backlighting), check the contact switch by removing the dash. I believe you can just remove the three screws on the dash and get access to the contact switch.

If the backlight comes on but no information, check the contacts on the fuse box. I had the same thing happen to my MC28 where the back light comes on but no info. I cleaned the terminals on my battery and the connections to the fuse box and no more problems.

Sorry, what I meant was that nothing happens, no back light, no signals...nothing. I'll give your approach a solid try. Thanks very much...I'll keep the board informed.

Did you install the HRC card for the first time? When you insert it you must let it run through it's set up. This takes about a minute. It starts off with SP on the screen and when it's complete shows the temp and P030 in the lower section. Now the bad news, some one told me that if you don't let it do this it renders the card useless.

Can anyone confirm this is ture?

I don't remember it doing anything special on first start-up, and rendering the card useless ... sounds dodgy to me.

I had my MC28 apart and when it was back together the card didn't work any more. It turned out to be something stupid -can't remmeber what- but I doubt it would spontaneously die with no symptoms.

Get a voltmeter and start at the battery, testing for 12V (what happens when card goes in and out), then open up that black box under the tank at the front with all the connectors in and look for voltages there, then move to the back of the PGM unit and look there.
