Need help with rubber inserts

Fri Jul 01, 2005 2:51 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

The rubber mounts which attach the airbox to the carbs have been separated from the air box. I noticed some kinda glue with previously fixed then in place. What should I be using to re glue these things in place.

I’ve a spare MC28 airbox, could I use this instead although I know the two aren’t the same.

You should be able to use a high temp/fuel safe sealant (RTV or other type material).

If the boots are to beat up, the simple wont stay in place on the air box, then you would want to order some new ones from Honda.

Thanks

I think the boots have gone a little hard as they were really difficult to get off the carbs, not like my MC28. Might have to do a little surfin to see if I can get some elsewhere.

Whenever the carbs come off [every other day huh Steve?!! Shocked ] I am NEVER sure I have the rubbers seated proper.
I may try the hair dryer on them next time....

Hey tom

Just gone through the same deal, I first scuffed up the old air box with some fine wet and dry. Then used a two part epoxy glue like areldite, once that went off I went round with a load of silacone. It was messy and no work of art but so far so good, couldnt swear it will last foe ever.
