Shall I race my MC16?

Kieran117 » Fri Oct 23, 2015 1:02 pm

Hello all, my MC16 rebuild is coming to an end I have been a bit lazy and not updated the project thread but anyway I rode it for the first time recently and I was quite shocked at how good the underdog of NSR's actually is, how light and flickable it is and even with 45bhp it made the most of it.

Which got me thinking, I currently race an NC30 in F400's but I've wanted to race a stroker since I started and after the little ride I had on the NSR I thought it could make a very good race bike, after all we have single disc TZR's from the same era who do well and the MC16 should be light years ahead of them.

Now my main issue is the early NSR is going to want upgrading with different wheels for tyre choice, more ride height, better forks, different barrels, carbs, pipes etc and then there is the issue of spares availability mainly with the cranks which worry me. Would I be better off selling the 16 as a nice clean road bike and searching for a race ready 21 or stick with what I've got and upgrade it which is half the fun for me anyway?

Also does anyone out there still race an NSR? I've searched and read loads of threads but it seems like after 08' not many people post about it. How competitive are the NSR's against the RGV's and KR-1's?
