It's not ideal, but as long as the barrel and head match, it will be OK. I.e., you can run one "R" barrel/head and one "SP" barrel/head. Actually, we're rebuilding an SP motor for a client right now, that was delivered in that configuration.

The heads on this particular motor are damaged, one severely, so we're fitting VHMs and machining the inserts to the correct combustion chamber volume/squish. Once the client sources another good, matching SP barrel, we'll then provide a new VHM insert to keep everything in spec.

We do NSR/RS crank rebuilds, and are part of a Honda Main Dealer franchise now, so our OEM parts price list comes straight off the Honda system, matching Fowlers/Lings/DSS etc. list prices. Our cranks may be a little more expensive than others, but judging by what we've seen with our own eyes, they are far better! Cool
