I have a problem with starting my bike after it's stopped for a particular length of time, no matter what the distance of the journey I've travelled.
It seems that if I stop for about less than 10 minutes, I am able to start the bike again, but if I stop for say about 30 minutes, I can't kick start it and it needs a push/roll start. It starts very easily from cold though - it honestly took me one kick to start it on this 13ºC Melbourne morning.
I'm not too mechanically minded so I have tried simple things to troubleshoot the problem.
I've tried turning it off using the key or using the kill switch without any success to remedy the problem.
I thought that it might be the fuel flooding the carbs, so I've tried switching off the fuel tap and starving the bike of petrol before stopping it and that hasn't fixed it either.
My bike is a stock 1991 MC21 SP with a KISS derestrictor box.
If anyone has experienced this and fixed it, I would appreciate your input or if anyone has any suggestions of where to look next.
Thanks in advanced,
Jerry
