Yes, the mc18 (non-sp) forks are the old fashioned damper-rod type, and the later nc30 forks have cartridges in them. I've fitted some to my nsr. The Damper rod type stanchions will not work with the cartridges though due to the shuttle in the end being too narrow, so you'll have to use the nc30 stanchions which are AFAIK 9mm shorter than the NSR ones.
