Rebuilding MC18 cranks

Dmitry » Sat Jan 28, 2012 5:53 am

From what I understand the MC18 cranks are impossible to get so my best option is to rebuild.
I can see that bearings are available on marketplace but what about con rods?
Do they fail often, can any aftermarket ones be fitted?

I got a guy here who does my Vespa cranks, he has the source for Vespa rods but I don't have any NSR ones to send him to match up, motor still together and I'm exploring options. Reason why I think bike needs con rods, or at least big end bearings is because it was powerwashed and then stored for over a year, when I got it there was still some water in the cylinder and crank case. No visible rust but I suspect bearing might be bad when I pull the crank out.

Thanks for any advice
