If you are blasting it then you will need to cover with a high temp laquer afterwards, otherwise the dirt will accumulate in every microscopic pore caused by the beads/grit. If you are blasting I agree with Andy. Use bead not grit. Personally I would save time and effort and get the motor "vapour blasted" instead.
