How's your day been?

DMB » Sun Apr 03, 2005 4:46 pm

Well! with it now being British Summer time, I thought I ought to blow the dust of my 21. Although I had had my battery on an Optimate during the "laid up" period it was as flat as a Witches T*T. One new battery later it was time to turn on the juice and get kicking!!!!!!!!Phew! me old legs aint wot they used to be!! Plan 2, bump her down my street. Select 3rd, get up a head of steam and drop the clutch.......NOWT! Puff, puff, pant, gasp, try not to lets the watching kids see that you are knackered, turn her round and set off back the way you have just come. My georgeous baby ticked into life, but only whilst I was manualling her down the road. As soon as I pulled in the clutch, the motor died. I pretended that I was inspecting the clocks, little did those that were watching know that I was close to throwing up, I was sucking in great lung fulls of air and was unable to speak. Once I had gained my composure and was able to function as a human again I repeated my athletic antics down the street. On the return pass, again, my Roby Rep chimed into life with a gentle pop, pop, pop. This gave me renewed vigor and even Lynford Christie would have eaten my Sh** ooops I mean dust. The motor gained an angry resonance and with each of my herculean foot falls became stronger and stronger. I pulled in the clutch and blipped the throttle, brAAAP, brAAAP WAAAANG! Pussy cats dived for cover under cars, little girls cried and neighbours who were out mowing lawns peered over hedges to see what the "Bloody Hell" is all that noise. "That Bloody noise! is sweet music to me, I replied.
Call me selfish, or just plain stupid if you like, but the bike does not have a current MOT or road tax right now. You know what I HAD to do next don't you?........... Yes! get me my helmet and gloves. I came back from a short ride and I was shaking all over, boy! does this motor shift! I had forgotten just how thrilling and enjoyable a sweet handling motorcycle can be. Roll on next weekend, I shall MOT and Tax the bike. Hold back the rain, Dave is out for enjoyment.
By the way, how was your day? Razz
