Jetting, anyone think this is a bit rich?

SLF-951 » Mon Jun 22, 2009 3:38 am

So.... After finally getting my 300 kit installed I pull the carbs to give em a cleaning and install the biggest jets Matt sent me for breaking the bike in. Went for the 185 front and the 182 top.... This with the power jets being soldered closed(just found out they were like this). This was the first time I myself have had the carbs opened up, only to discover that it was running on a 182 front and 180 top.??????

The bike did come from sea level San Fran. and was running premix at one time..... And was being run flat out on the track.... But wow, isn't this a bit rich for the prior 250? I mean yeah, i always noticed the bike ran real nice when it was cold out.... But it never fouled a plug or anything when it was hot out either. It seized on a warm night too.....

I'm just real neverous about running it at the current jetting.... Don't even trust it to do a plug chop as of now. This rebiuld already has me not wanting to ride the bike due to the $ it cost to put it back together.

As of now, I'm thinking I want the power jets back....?? The bike does run real strong in short bursts that I'm willing to give it.... And does stand up with a roll on and no clutch... I like that a lot.... Just really not wanting to seize this bad boy up within the first 100 miles....

Anybody's input would be great.... Just not knowing about the power jets and how much they correct, or how much I need them to be safe on the jetting is keeping my bike parked. And that's no fun in the middle of summer.

Steve
