M-max to HRC derestrictor

invigiator » Thu Mar 03, 2005 12:35 am

I'm trying to go from an M-max derestrictor to an HRC one. Having trouble, maybe somebody can help....

I removed the M-max, disconnected the nasty wire-splice-thingy (damn! What are those things called?) from the orange and blue cable coming out of the connector that goes into the PGM, here:

And pulled the M-max plugs out of these sockets here. In the picture I have reconnected the bullet-connector, one of which the M-max was using:

So If I plug everything back in, it seems OK, and the bullet connector must be the sidestand switch. Back to stock, except that orange/blue wire in the first picture which looks like it was chopped when the M-max was installed ... can't find the other end of it though. What is that wire? And does it matter?

Anyway, now I plug the new HRC derestrictor into the PGM, here:

So far so good, but the plugs on the other end .... here:

Don't look like they'll plug into anything much. They don't even come close to fitting the connectors in the second pic. and even if they did, I'm not sure it would reach. Drat!!
So have I got the wrong bike, or the wrong derestrictor? Can I bypass the problem by soldering wires together or something. Any ideas, I'm stuck?
