I have a little experience on the legal front, the danger here is that even though you think you have the right man, no matter how certain you are that you got the culprit, no matter how definate you are about the facts and how good the info / witnesses are,.............

you might have the wrong man and he is now dead.

That's why civilised nations have legal systems and we all function, to a certain degree, within set perameters... I had a load of ki nicked last year, they got shed loads of stuff including an Arai Quantum F, £100 worth of gloves, 1000 blank CD's. 2 engines, lawnmower and stuff like that.

I got mad at the time but I wish the federales pulled their fingers from their rectums and spent more time preventing instead of hassling bikers and eating doughnuts....
