I seem to recall that at the time he wasn't too keen to open up the airbox all the way too, as we didn't have any [bigger] mains [small enough] to run with a standard carb setup and those mods to hand that day!

It was a fairly fresh motor, so yeah, sure there was another horse or two in it waiting to be released going on "usual" MC21 results and fresh engines.
