Yep, it was discussed on the RGV forum, but Eurosport they didn't have that gear indicator back in 2001, the laptime is spot on for a 250 and it sounds nothing like a 500, it's more likely there's an error on the speed readout calculation, it'll just be a bit of Dorna kit.
Anyway even the 500's only pulled 280kph down the straight at Mugello. MotoGP bikes pull 310+ (and run 1.50 lap times), 250's about 260.

And you'd be horrified to know a 250 has been clocked at 173mph. Shanghai 2006, Roberto Locatelli hit 279.6kph through the speed trap, cover that clutch boy
