While your in there, you may want to check the impeller shaft and bearing to make sure they don't need replacement. I know that on the RS250, the impeller shaft needs changing a good amount due to wear from the seal cutting a grove in the metal on the shaft and not allowing a good seal.
When you pull the shaft, you can clean it up real well with some super fine scotch brite and check where the seal sites on it. If it's grooved all that much, you may want to replace it?
cheers charles, i will check the shaft and replace if required, i hope its the same as the mc21, bike is MC18 R5K, new parts are getting very hard to get.
i will report my results once i get back my holiday, if i understand right its a ceramic type seal, similar to the cx500 one !! (and many other hondas) they needed changing fairly often and were easy to break on fitting, never done it before (or owned a cx500) so will see how it goes.
andy , your help & advice has been invaluable to me so i'll let you off this time
