I dunno about the can distance, as it's the cone / reverse cone that sets the power isn't it? The standard pipes have different length tubes from the expansion chamber to the bean cans to make them look the same either side, whereas tuned exhausts tend to have the cans staggered.

Maybe we should speculate for a while until Matt comes along and tells us we're all dunses.
