Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

philandhisjag » Fri May 18, 2007 9:49 pm

On the way home this afternoon I crashed the NS250F right at the top of the Pennines near Blackstone Edge - a lamb crossed the road right in front of me at 50mph+ (and I was still accelerating so it could have been higher).
There was no time to react so I hit it and got thrown down the road for about 100m.

I have broken a bone in my right hand (metatasle) right before the knuckle, which is apparently a nasty fracture in the worst place to break it; cracked 2 ribs, and generally battered and bruised my knees, left thigh and left forearm. I nearly passed out with delayed shock when they were doing the cast, was put on oxygen and moved to observation for an hour with suspected concussion. It turns out the internal swelling from the cracked ribs was putting pressure on my left lung, which meant I wasn't getting enough oxygen. It's not so bad now but still hurts a little when I breathe.

As a consequence, at the moment I cannot ride, but at least I'm in one piece. My helmet and trousers are wrecked. The bike has just suffered a bit of road rash though - a new headlight, and a new lower end can and it will be sorted.

Shame as the 14/44 gearing was spot on and it went like stink up to 180kph.............

Bloody sheep!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ouch Sad Sad Sad Sad
