AHHHHH!!! I don't recall HRC listing a framing hammer as a "special" tool in any of their documentation.

I think there's a thread some where on here about removing them with some nuts, washers so they come out without any issues. You may need to use a little solvent to help out with the carbon build up on the shaft. But I don't think a claw hammer is the best (or even second best) solution.
