No, it may be fine, for ages, or forever. Or the reg/rec may have been replaced with a new (better) one.

250's don't seem to have that many problems with electrics, the NC23/29/30/35 are renound for it, it's about the only thing that goes wrong with them. It's just something to be aware of, my '28 has been "wrong" since I got it, so was my NC35.

Obviously it (the reg/rec) can handle a 55w drain from the lights, it can handle a 60w from the main and a 95w from a mainbeam flash (35+60 note:- when you flash the main lights up as well, unlike when you switch) so it must be able to, wheather it can handle it all the time or can handle the 115w draw from a flash on an H4 bulb is another matter. Also the 400's run twin headlights so the "problem" is doubled, this is probably why NSRs don't fry the mainbeam switch yet both of my RVF's and my CBR4 all did.
