As Honda Regulators can be a little suspect and this one was a bit old in the tooth, we decided to replace the original MC18 Regulator.
Looking around there appeared to be a few MC18 Regulators about including one from WEMOTO which looked a well engineered & robust piece of kit, however, it would require some work to re-locate & fit so decided to give that a miss.
In the end we decided on DMR’s Conversion Kit from WEBIKE which uses a MC21/28 type Regulator & a separate fixing Plate to move its location so that it will fit with very little effort.
However, examining the wiring coming from DMR’s MC21 Regulator conversion kit, there appeared to be a wire missing compared to the MC18 Regulator. Comparing the MC18 & MC21 Wiring diagrams they showed that the MC18 Regulator had an extra R/Bk wire (Positive supply from the Ignition Switch) running to it which the MC21/28 Regulator does not need.
All fully fitted and working fine.
