Questions about NX5 forks on NSR250

scottvor » Sun Aug 06, 2023 5:41 pm

I'm looking for any insight on this set up. I recently bought another NSR (MC21R) that has a NX5 front end attached with CBR600RR(?) discs and stock MC21R front wheel. Its a great looking bit of kit but its a lot shorter than my MC28SP race bike. I had my race bike lifted as much as possible because even with Tyga rearsets, I would still occasionally touch them down. I weighed about 76kg(170lbs) when racing years back. I could get my elbow down as well but that was immediately followed by my shoulder, then head, then ass....

I was interested in fitting the NX5 forks to my race bike but there's a big difference in ride height between them. MC28 rear height (swingarm pivot to ground) is +33mm and the front (top of bottom triple to front axle) is +32mm. MC21 has an Ohlins shock but can not go any longer as clearance between Tyga pipes and swingarm is already very close. I seem to remember seeing a photo of tube extensions to an UD Showa fork attached to a NSR.

Thanks for any info, Scott
