Just picked up my first NSR250 1987 MC16
it is relatively complete but in need of a restoration. During teardown I ran across the following issues and would like to see if someone could give some advise on these questions.
was missing both the front and rear CDI unit, in addition it looks like the wiring has been changed to fit another years CDI. From what i can tell the original should have a 2x2 4 pin and a 1x2 2 pin connector per each CDI and looks like there are aftermarket ones available from china. (does this sound correct?) what is currently wired into the loom for the cdi's are two 2x3 6 pin connectors. Any where to get just the connectors to fix the wiring loom?
other issue and this could be related. The flywheel has been adjusted. originally it should have 1 long raised bar for the pick up sensors but newer models have 2 separate 1 for each cylinder I assume. this one was adjusted terribly with the use of a welder and a grinding wheel which i am in doubt it will even work to look like the new model with the 2 raised areas. was this adjustment made to maybe work with the newer CDI's that looked to be wired in at one time?
Lastly, can someone confirm that on a stock bike the gas cap, ignition, rear lock are all the same key? purchased this one and they lost the keys, will pick the rear lock which I was able to remove while still locked and hopefully cut a new key to match that core if it does tear down after unlocking it.
thank you in advance
