Hi Guys,

I had two primary straight gears made for my MC21. These are fitted to the end of the crank and the dry clutch hub. The problem is that I forgot to take any measurements of fit between the gear and the clutch backplate for disassembling it. I've take a number of photos but they are not precise enough to judge if there is a gap or not.

The dry clutch is made up with the following rivets (x7), back plate, rubber shock absorbers, gear, clutch hub which has the basket screwed to it (ignoring the bearings , bushes and seals). The rubber shock absorbers are to reduce the shock loading on the gears and gearbox. However, I can't remember if the back plate should have a small amount of movement on the rivets.

so the question I'd like answering is should I rivet the back plate hard down on to the gear with no gap. Or should there be a small gap of x mm (eg 0.5mm) to allow a slight amount of movement.

Any help or "positive" advice would be greatly appreciated.
