The adjuster on the "R" model is indeed for preload. "SE" (far cheaper than MC28SP) forks are a direct replacement if you want preload and rebound adjustment. Adjustable SE/SP rear shocks are the same item, and again are a direct replacement for the R shock. The SP shock has preload, compression, and rebound dampening if you want it.
All the stickers are discontinued. You may be lucky and find some NOS (new old stock) stickers somewhere like Yahoo! Auctions, but more than likely you will need to get them remade or have the panel repainted.
