I had these nickel plated no problems, same process as chrome, just one extra step for chrome plate. Chrome is going to be on the inside because they have too submerged them in a bath and it has to fill the inside too make them sink. Cost me about $100 USD, no polishing, just stripped the paint with light glass bead sand blast. I work in chrome for 7 years, nasty stuff, still deal with chrome platers to this day.
